SYMBOL PDT
Batch Solutions Description:
Small handheld units with keypad and two
to eight line screen. Symbol units have a built in laser scanner.
Small screen displays just the fields needed for the function. Need
to synchronize (dock) unit to transfer data to PC and CounterPoint. |
Functions: Physical
Count, Receiving, Transfers, and Order Lines.
Small size and durability. Can accept typed entries. |
Restrictions: Does not effect
CounterPoint user count. No validation of entry until loaded into
CounterPoint.
Advantages:
Possible purchase of Data Interchange, and PDT

Description:
Small handheld units
running the Palm Operating
System. Comes with installed Rolodex, calendar, and note taking
software. Symbol units have built-in laser scanner. Some models are
more durable than others are. Small screen displays just the fields
needed for the function. Need to synchronize (dock) unit to transfer
data to and from PC and CounterPoint. |
Functions: Physical Count, Order Lines,
Receiving, Transfers, Price Maintenance, Label & Slip Printing.
Small size and durability. Can accept hand written entries
(graffiti).
Does not affect CounterPoint user count. |
Advantages: Number of records and barcodes
loaded for look-ups are limited and dependant on model.
Possible purchase of Data Interchange and SQL Connection Options,
and application software. |

Windows CE or Palm O/S and a browser. Comes with installed Rolodex,

displays just the fields needed for the function.
Mobile (pre-scan) Tickets, Item & Price Functions, Quick Counts, Tags,
and Customer Info. Small size and durability.

Tablet PCs Description:
Think
of a notebook computer without the "clam-shell", without the keyboard
portion. The screen part is about an inch think and is a touch screen.
The computer components are contained within the screen housing. The
unit can be used with or without a keyboard / mouse and is normally used
with a stylus or your finger similar to a Palm Pilot. Ports include, USB,
VGA, RJ45, and an antenna for wireless 10BASE-T Ethernet communications.
USB scanners work fine with the Viewsonic models.
Runs full CounterPoint (unmodified)
No additional user training.

Live look-up and entry
into CounterPoint.

Advantages:
POS
(non-Touch screen Version) does not allow for <alt> keys without a
keyboard. (View sonic on screen keyboard can provide these keystrokes).
Live Physical Count Entry screen does not provide for count
accumulations. Durability is the same as a notebook.
